Taking into account the aesthetic of a Lamborghini; such as color, shape, logo, and other design features in their vehicles, were applied to develop a set of distinct preliminary key fob designs. The different forms and shapes of the key fob delivered in the ideation process, provided with ability to distinguish the pros and cons of each design, helping me drilled down my idea to one key fob to be modeled in SolidWorks.
Once my ideas have been drilled down to one, I moved forward with my key fob design exploring what key functions will pertain to each button along with materialization and how branding will be implemented within the key fob itself.
Quick rendering of the key fob was executed to explore and formalize color, materialization, and button placement.
3D model of the Lamborghini KeyFob was designed using SolidWorks by exploring with overall height, width, and tolerance to later create a 3D printed prototype.
Prototyping
3D printed key fob model was created to ensure if the key fob components can be assembled and fit seamlessly. The 3D printed prototype was also created to help me understand the good and flaws about my design model; most notably the tolerance and inner lip dimensions.
1. Scale of the key fob is good. Large touchscreen display is preferred for one's fingers to be able to interact and see the screen.
2. Metal key holder tolerance is very thin and small not allowing keys to inserted. Prone to breaking easily due to flimsiness and thin dimensions.
3. Bottom half of the key fob dimensions do not match the upper half enabling the key fob to be assembled seamlessly, leaving a huge gab in between.
KeyShot 3D rendering software was used to finalize the final design of the Lamborghini key fob by adding materialization, color, and branding to the SolidWorks model. This step was crucial in the process to bring life to the model and a realistic visualization.
